Intraoperative brain mapping of language, cognitive functions, and social cognition in awake surgery of low-grade gliomas located in the right non-dominant hemisphere

The aim of our study was to evaluate the usefulness cortical-subcortical intraoperative brain mapping (ioBM) in resective awake surgery low-grade gliomas (LGG) right non-dominant hemisphere (RndH). It estimated how ioBM may affect both extent resection and postoperative outcome language, spatial cognition, social executive functions including attention working memory. : Fifteen patients that underwent LGG located on RndH, were included. A cohort 15 with same tumour location operated under general anaesthesia without used as control. Specific tasks for each carried out results registered. Neuropsychological assessment performed preoperatively at 6 months after surgery. In group by using surgery, an 86.66 % mean obtained compared 60.33 control group.
